This is my second time participating in the Calico Cat haiku contest, sponsored by Origa.This year’s contest has been dedicated to the memory of Hortensia Anderson, a talented haiku poet who recently passed away. The haiku were not only to honor Hortensia’s memory, but to incorporate some of the elements of a sumi painting by Origa, entitled “Moments of Eternity” (scroll down in post to see sumi painting). These are my haiku:
silent sphinx
the unknowable mystery
of life
afterglow
the sky in the wake
of a shooting star
for the briefest moment
the blazing arc
of a shooting star
Each haiku was then translated into Russian. All the translations can be read here, along with participants’ comments.
