a river of stones, day 16

It is cool in the leafy shade of the Oregon ash trees, and I pause
to lean on my rake, and look around. Only the ash and spruce were here
when we first moved in. Now Canadian hemlocks and Leyland cypress fill
the once empty spaces. The trees have grown like crazy in the past 20
years. So have our kids.
