A River of Stones- 1.16.12

It has been snowing on and off all afternoon in a most lackadaisical way, melting almost upon impact, into a puddle of slush. I wonder if even Mother Nature gets the mid-winter blues sometimes.

  1. lackadaisical – one of my favourite words 🙂 Funnily enough, I’ve never used it in my writing though so have never actually written it down. What a treat to see it in your small stone today. Thank you!

    • My mom used to use that word, but I’ve never actually written it before either, Kirsten, so of course I was flagged by the spell-checker and had to look up the correct spelling. 😉

    • Haha, I’m very sure that isn’t the case, Sanjuktaa!

I’m enjoying your stones too. It’s nice to break out of haiku sometimes. Whenever I feel like I’m in a rut with haiku, I take a break and write in a different form, and that recharges me. I am looking forward to February NaHaWriMo though– by then I should be ready to get back to the daily practice of haiku. I imagine our number of active posters will swell then.
