Proudest Accomplishment

2012 Writer Mama Every-Day-In-May Book Giveaway, Day 3. I feel like I’ve answered this question at least once before, and probably more. And I feel fairly sure that my answer has changed each time.

Today’s question, and my response:

5/3/12: Q: What is your proudest writing accomplishment? You will need to be fairly explicit to make this 50-200 words. So tell us, why this one? Why not something else you wrote?

My greatest writing accomplishment to date is not an actual piece of writing at all, but the fact that I took my dream of becoming a writer, and translated it into a reality. There was a certain serendipity involved in my decision—the right writing group opened up at the right time in my life—but nonetheless, I was able to overcome my fear of making a fool of myself in front of others, to finally try my hand at something I’ve always wanted to do. And my life is richer now, for having taken that first step!
