The NaHaiWriMo prompt today is to write a haiku involving something askew, off-key, or just plain wrong in some way. We lost my father-in-law on June 11, 2003. This is one of my strongest memories from the time shortly after his funeral.


summer rain
 the condolence bouquets
dropping petals
