August 30 NaHaiWriMo- the prompt is “fence”, provided by Terri Hale French. My haiku:
invisible fence
yours, mine
and ours
August 25 NaHaiWriMo- the prompt is “summertime childhood memory”, provided by me! My haiku:
salty breeze
inhaling the scent
of Coppertone and fries
When I think about childhood summers, the first thing that comes to mind is the beach. We had many nice beaches where we lived: Short Beach, Long Beach, Little Africa, and Sunken Meadow are the ones that most readily come to mind. We would tan ourselves, swim, body surf, tan, eat, and tan some more! Those were the days. I’m sure knowing then what we know now, we might not have been so enthusiastic about baking ourselves in the sun every summer. But this is now, that was then…
More beach ku:
new swim suit
my tan lines
keep shifting
the long stretch of sand
between beach blanket and sea
scorching heat
on the beach
my worries ebb away
with the tide
