yielding

I’m pleased to have a couple of haiku in the June issue of A Hundred Gourds. In keeping with their policy of not reposting our works for a period of 40 days after they are first published in AHG, I will post my haiku from the March issue instead.

winter solitude
the click of my fingers
on the keyboard

yielding
to a sudden impulse
butterfly in the wind

end of summer
the dog’s bully stick
chewed down to a nub

D is for Dog

NaHaiWriMo- Day 4

Today’s prompt was “dog”. Now that I have a resident dog in my life, this is easy. In fact, the hardest part is knowing when to stop! Since we were asked to only do one posting every 24 hours on the NaHaiWriMo Facebook page, I put the haiku I posted, plus two others below:

walking into
the wind
puppy and me

morning amble
the dog
walking me

muddy pawprints
on the carpet
signs of spring
